The Government of Kerala will conduct Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test (KTET) 2012 also known as Kerala TET. The RTE Act 2009 directs the States to ensure the quality requirement for recruitment of teachers. The persons recruited as teachers should possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at all levels of schooling. Teacher Eligibility Test conducted in the Kerala will hereafter be known as Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET). KTET is the examination to assess the eligibility of teacher candidates for Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala.

Separate test will be conducted to select teachers for Category I (Lower Primary classes), Category II (Upper Primary classes) and Category III (High School classes).
The conduct of the examination is entrusted with Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala. A prospectus for the examination is madeavailable in the website of Pareeksha Bhavan ( Candidates are strictly advised to go through the same before submitting the application form.

KTET Exam Fees

The Exam fee is Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) for each category. Fee for reserved categories such as SC/ST and differently abled categories is Rs.250/- each (Rupees Two Hundred and Fifty only).

How to Apply for KTET

Applications should be submitted to Pareeksha Bhavan only through online. Exam fee may be remitted in cash to any of the selected branches of State Bank of Travancore in and out of Kerala. The procedure for sending application and remitting fee is given in detail in the Prospectus (Page 13). Candidates can select the district for the examination while filling the application form.

KTET Exam Center

The centre of examination will be allotted by Pareeksha Bhavan with the admit card. After submitting application through online, a hard copy of the application may be send by post to Secretary, Pareeksha Bhavan as prescribed in the prospectus. Requirement for pass

(i) A person who scores 60% or more in the KTET examination shall be considered as KTET pass.
However, qualifying the KTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility conditions for appointment. In addition, the candidate will have to fulfill other additional qualifications/conditions prescribed from time to time as per State Recruitment Rules, while applying for the said post.
(ii) A person who has qualified KTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
