Individuals who want to work as educational instructors for students studying in first standard to fifth standard will need to appear for APTET Paper one. APTET Exam paper one is designed for primary level teachers. Applicants who want to appear for APTET paper one should have cleared their higher secondary certificate examination with a minimum aggregate score of 50%. Applicant should also hold a two year diploma in special education (D.Ed) or a four year diploma in elementary education (D.el.Ed).

Candidates who want to work as educational instructors for students studying in sixth standard to eighth standard will need to appear for APTET Paper Two. APTET paper Two is designed for secondary level teachers. Applicants who want to appear for APTET paper two should be a graduate in any stream. They should have scored a minimum aggregate score of 50%. Applicant should also hold an one  year degree in special education( B.Ed) or a two year degree in elementary education( B.El.Ed).
Applicants who wish to be language teachers should have achieved a qualification of language pundit or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the government.
Candidates who successfully clear the APTET Exam 2014 will be awarded a certificate confirming the same. Passing threshold for general candidates is 60% and for backward classes is 50%. ST/SC/PH categories need to obtain 40% marks to clear the APTET.
