Social Development Theorists
There are a number of theorists who are clearly linked with social development. In addition to Erik Erikson, John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth whose ideas were discussed under 'Emotional and Psychological Development'.
Bronfenbrenner developed the ecological systems theory. He emphasised a balance between nature (heredity) and nurture (environment). To illustrate his theory, he depicts the child as surrounded by four concentric circles, each representing a different set of factors that influence the child.
